unzip to root of drive -- ie C:\
Inside the Amazon folder there is a program TLCTour32.exe - run this file.
Select Install
Ignore any error messages (the program still works) -
You shouldn't need to install DirectX or Quicktime
Rerun TLCTour32.exe and select "Play"
Like the previous editions of this simulated navigation through the
overgrown Amazon Basin, your child will be glued to the computer screen
with this edition. Similar to the improvements that Oregon Trail 3rd
Edition brought to its series, the lifelike 3D graphics and quality
video footage this time around through the dripping jungle make this
content-enriched program a must-have for virtual explorers. Lots to
learn, too. Harpooning Amazon fish for dinner requires checking out your
catch in the guidebook to make sure it's not poisonous.
Learning about the plants and animals while snapping their photos is
great fun. The journey is firsthand and first-person for players who,
like in the other "Trail" adventures, have to make practical decisions
and life-or-death choices to survive. Critical thinking and problem
solving are the engines that drive these journeys. Everything living
thing, from tiny exotic bugs to beautiful birds to predator reptiles and
strange tribal peoples, come alive and invite interaction.
Finding long-lost villages and trading with their indigenous
inhabitants is such a dazzling experience that a whole new generation of
anthropologists might spring from this game. Choosing a good guide,
buying the right supplies, canoeing downstream nearly 4,000 miles to
Vilcabamba, the trip is unforgettable--and travelers can refer even
after its over to the many virtual photos they took along the way and
their entries in the trip journal. What a field trip!
